Progress Report - 2010
The library continued to grow in its resources and added 116 books, 196 reports, and 24 reprints and is subscribing 42 Foreign and 107 Indian Journals. The library is now holding 21716 books and 56500 back volumes of journals, 5327 reports and 2141 reprints on its shelves. The library facilities have been extended to the various research organizations and NGO.s located in Jodhpur in particular and other parts of the country in general. During the period under report 5530 readers utilized library services and consulted 42590 documents. The total membership of the library has gone to 88 no.s. (as per renew of the membership)
In charging and discharging services, 2238 books were issued and 2147 books were returned by the readers.The 12500 pages of books and journals of Dr. Raheja Library were photocopied and 600 institute publications/reprints were sent to the various institutes/ organisations and to the scientists and research scholars on exchange and demand basis. Computer section of the Library facilitated online Bibliographical search, e-mail and internet services using various devices. The AGRIS and CAB-CD databases were used for search and retrieval of information by the institute scientists and research scholars of JNVU, Jodhpur and other organisation. The information extracted were downloaded and printed for the readers. A connectivity through CD-Server to various nodes has been provided to the institute scientists. Dr. Raheja Library has been continuously updating its own databases of the resources using CDS/ISIS 3.08 and WinISIS 1.41 software which are used for online search of reprints, books, journals etc. on the basis of keyword, author, title etc. All the holdings have been catalogued under these databases. Environment Information System (ENVIS) of Department of Environment (DOE) continued to render its services through a database on desertification and soil conservation to its focal point as well as other ENVIS centers located in India. In this year centre responded to 220 queries and disseminated information to SAARC countries, Govt. Offices, Policy makers, Planners and other research workers in the country and abroad.
