.: Project at a Glance

The proposed sub-project under Basic and Strategic Research (Component 4) of NAIP shall generate new knowledge in nano particle farming which shall address to the current emerging issue of depleting P resources. Scientists of five institutions viz. CAZRI-Jodhpur, IIT-Mumbai, PAU-Ludhiana, BITS-Pilani and IISS-Bhopal with expertise in fields of soil science, microbiology, material science and plant physiology have jointly formulated this project with the total financial outlay of 3.27 crores for four years. The sub-project aims at enhancing the utilization of native phosphorus by plants using nano-particles, enhancement of gum production for soil binding and moisture retention and synthesis and application of nano-granules of phosphorus from rock phosphate for enhancing its utilization. Likely out come of the proposal shall be development of newer methods to control and enhance the availability and release of nutrients through basic and strategies research. Thus, the proposal shall facilitate an accelerated and sustained improvement of nutrient and moisture use efficiency through collaborative development and application of newer innovations in partnership with other public/private organizations.
